Elena had been discussing things with the old man when it happened. It happened so fast that she didn't have time to yell for Aidren. The ground fell out bellow her feet and she saw the old man fall into the pit of darkness with her. Then as she fell, screaming, she saw the hole above her close... And everything went out... and all feeling left her body. It was to dark to tell whether she had fallen unconcious... To dark to tell whether her eyes had closed...
Later... much later when feeling returned ot her body she felt heat, extreme heat that burned at her skin. She groaned, rolling over onto her side and opening her eyes to see a wall of fire that roared up in front of her. She gasped and moved back, staring at the wall of fire warily.
She glanced around, finding the whole cavernous place glowing with fire. She seemed to be on an island of hot stone in the midst of lave and flames... and there was no way off...
In the distance she heard a plea for help, someone calling to her to help them... But, no where could she see a single person... Then she decided to look over the edge slightly on the side where there was no wall of fire.
There was the old man, holding on to a ledge that was hanging over the river of lava.
"Hold on!" Elena said and laid down on the rock island. She reached down, holding out her hand to the old man. "Here! Take my hand!"
The old man reached up and managed to grab onto her hand... Elena knew she probably didn't have the strength to pull him up... But, she could try.
Elena pulled slightly, looking over into the old man's eyes... She almost dropped him at what she saw. His eyes were glowing red, and he had a cruel smile on his lips...
He held on to her hand, even when she went to pull away... He pulled himself closer, and then jerked hard, sending her over the edge with him.
She screamed as she came closer and closer to the heat... and then stopped.
It was like she was lying on something invisble to her eyes... but it was holding her above the river of lava and there was nothing burning her.
She picked herself up hesitantly and looked around. She stopped once and the invisible force didn't break.
"Eeeelaaanaaa...." the voice was frightfully creepy.... and it drew out her name in a taunting manner.
"W-where am I?" she asked.
Nothing answered her, except for a slight chuckle from behind...
She turned around and there was Airen, standing right there before her, with glowing eyes.
"Your not Airen!"
"No," he said smoothly, a cruel smile playing on his handsome face. "But this is an image that you can handle better... I want to frighten you, but not frighten you to death. You have to stay alive long enough for Airen to see you..."
"Just to see me?"
Airen, well the fake Airen smiled cunningly. "See you with me."
